Paul George interest leads to the NBA fining the Los Angeles Lakers $500,000 for tampering, citing Magic Johnson’s comments in Jimmy Kimmel interview

How things ended between Paul George and the Indiana Pacers is sad, to say the least. Aside from the Reggie Miller era, the Pacers had little to no success in the NBA. Fortunes changed when Paul George emerged as the team’s best player.

Paul George led the Pacers to their first playoff trip in five years, in 2011, and things changed. Ultimately, the Pacers formed a rivalry with the Miami Heat, with PG being the foil to LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh. The Pacers and Heat both crumbled in 2015.

While Paul George had the chance to stick it out in Indiana and continue to build, he made it clear he would leave in 2018. He also made it clear he was likely going to the Lakers, which Magic Johnson spoke on during Jimmy Kimmel Live. Those comments, despite George being traded to the Thunder, ended up costing the Lakers $500,000.
