YRS Jerzy’s Wednesday Throwback: Lil’ Mama – “Lip Gloss”

By YRS Jerzy

During the “hip hop is dead” era, there were a lot of new artists who emerged. Think about it, in 2007, it was really looking like Lil’ Mama and Mims could be the next generation Lil’ Kim and Jay-Z. But, no one can really predict the future, as Nicki Minaj would take the top spot.

Ultimately, Lil’ Mama got the proper exposure to land her some roles in movies and other shows. In 2013, she got the role of Left Eye in the controversial VH1 biopic for TLC. Then, this week, she starred in the primetime TV One film, When Love Kills, playing opposite Lance Gross.

Lil’ Mama knocked that role out of the park, this week, and she deserves a second look. For the Wednesday Throwback, Hip-HopVibe.com decided to take it back to Lil’ Mama’s beginnings. This week’s Wednesday Throwback is “Lip Gloss,” her 2007 debut single.
