Sevyn Streeter talks dealing with depression, unity, and competition among female rappers on #SwayInTheMorning [VIDEO]

A lot of the old is disappearing, but when Sevyn Streeter emerged, she represented some of the old feeling. An R&B singer, when R&B is increasingly becoming pop, Sevyn restored the feeling. Her 2013-2014 run is memorable, for that reason.

Early in her career, Sevyn Streeter received a huge boost from R&B’s resident king, Chris Brown. He included her background vocals on his 2011 hit, “She Ain’t You,” and even gave her a cameo in the video. A lot has changed, since then.

Sevyn Streeter stopped by “Sway In The Morning” to talk to Sway about some of these changes. She discussed her past, where she has dealt with depression, and her relationship status. Following this, she spoke on bringing unity to the game, and the current crop of female R&B singers.
