Kevin Durant takes massive pay cut and signs two-year deal with Warriors for $53 million

A year ago, many non-Warriors’ fans and sports critics were highly upset, when Kevin Durant spurned the Thunder and joined Golden State. Many people felt they’d do like the 2011 Miami Heat and lose, short of the title. But, a month after the title, the Warriors did right.

The result of this is every team stacking more than ever before. KD’s former Thunder have traded for Paul George, pairing him with their other superstar, Russell Westbrook, the league’s MVP. Then, Houston made a trade for Chris Paul, pairing him with James Harden.

Already, a year ago, the NBA raised their pay, and the Warriors made the biggest signing in sports history, with $201 million to Steph Curry. A lot of talk is still going on about that deal, especially after the one Kevin Durant signed. To return to the Warriors, he signed a two year, $53 million deal, which, in these times, is a massive paycut.
