HHV Exclusive: Allen Hughes explains how #TheDefiantOnes came together, Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, creating classic films, documentaries, and more

One half of the Hughes brothers, Allen Hughes has established himself as a household name. The two got their start, producing music videos for many West Coast artists. By 1993, they produced Menace II Society and became household names.

Other movies under their belt include Dead Presidents, American Pimp, From Hell, and many others. This legacy have earned the Hughes brothers legendary status. A time hanging out with Dr. Dre actually led to Allen Hughes pitching The Defiant Ones to HBO.

Allen Hughes spoke to Hip-HopVibe.com, earlier this week, in promotion of The Defiant Ones. The first part of the documentary airs on HBO on July 9. During the interview, he speaks on how he got Dr. Dre to do this, Jimmy Iovine, Dre’s legacy, getting Kendrick Lamar to sit down, his legacy, and much more.
