Jimmy Iovine talks cultural appropriation, Death Row Records, Apple Music challenges and more with #SwayInTheMorning [VIDEO]

Often, the story of Death Row Records is told, especially in those hip hop documentaries. Then, the biopics began, Straight Outta Compton and All Eyez on Me told part of the Death Row story. However, the real story was about Interscope Records.

In some of the Death Row documentaries, a part of Interscope’s story is told. What is said is that the label was struggling and Jimmy Iovine was on the verge of losing his deal with Atlantic Records. The success of the partnership with Death Row helped prevent that from happening.

Jimmy Iovine is making his media rounds for The Defiant Ones, where he spoke to Hip-HopVibe.com this week. Now, he shows up at Shade 45 to talk to Sway for “Sway In The Morning.” Here, Jimmy Iovine spoke about the culture, Death Row Records, the challenges of Apple Music, and more.
