There are a few reasons why Paul Pierce is an essential player. Though he is not quite retired, Paul Pierce just completed his final season in the league. Despite being with the Boston Celtics for most of his career, he wrapped with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Paul Pierce was the first franchise player the Celtics had after the era of the Bird/McHale/Parrish trio. Ultimately, after a few playoff disappointment, and losing seasons, Pierce formed his own Big 3. He, along with Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, won the Celtics’ 17th title.
Along the way, Paul Pierce formed a bitter rivalry with LeBron James, whom his Celtics got the better of, twice. But, after LeBrom James formed his own Big 3 in Miami, with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, the Heat beat Boston twice, turning Pierce into a journeyman. Now, a playoff analyst, Paul Pierce went on “The Jump” to defend saying Kevin Durant is better than LeBron.
