Because of how much time has passed, it’s easy to overlook the role that was played by Game in getting Kendrick Lamar on. Yes, Kendrick had strong buzz, but Game is the one who co-signed him. On top of that, it was Game who introduced him to Dr. Dre.

Kendrick Lamar signed to Aftermath and proceeded to become the biggest breakout artist of 2012. Despite his immense success, Kendrick decided to take a step back from the game. Following his Jay Z-assisted remix of “Kill My Vibe,” Kendrick Lamar virtually disappeared.

In 2015, Kendrick Lamar returned with To Pimp A Butterfly. Now, he has his third official album, DAMN, out and it is the biggest topic of discussion among most. Always stepping up for those he considers close to him, Game has spoken out for DAMN, offering his support. The Compton rapper said real hip hop fans have THIS album and it inspired Westside Story, his next album.
