Yesterday marked fifteen years since Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes died. The music world still reels from her death, seeing how it wasn’t even a year removed from Aaliyah’s tragic death. As with her, Left Eye also died in a freak accident on an island.
While she was here, Left Eye was transcending the game, delivering her own brand of music. During the new era, of the 1990s, where R&B and rap met, Left Eye was perfect as a third of TLC, alongside T-Boz and Chilli. The group definitely dominated the early 1990s.
In 1994, they dropped CrazySexyCool, their sophomore album. Among the songs off the album was “Diggin’ On You,” which would become a big hit, just like all the other tracks off the album. Celebrating the life of Left Eye, “Diggin’ On You” is this week’s Wednesday Throwback.
