Birdman celebrates selling 1 billion records with Cash Money Records with special video message; Fans bombard his comments with lyrics from Rick Ross’ “Idols Become Rivals”

What Birdman has managed to do over the past twenty years is nothing short of impressive. Even what he, alongside his older brother, Slim, were doing back in New Orleans prior to 1997 was impressive. Before there was a Universal deal, Birdman and Slim were millionaires.

After meeting with Universal, they scored the biggest distribution deal in history, at the time. Just like the name of their label, Cash Money, the brothers only accepted cash. Unfortunately, many artists complained about not being paid properly.

Courtesy of Lil Wayne, the label flourished, adding Drake and Nicki Minaj, two tremendous successes. Even DJ Khaled joined the label, bringing his imprint, for about three years, which Rick Ross called out on “Idols Become Rivals.” Tonight, Birdman celebrated selling 1 billion records, including music from those artists, and the roast has begun, using Ross’ tracks.
