Everyone knew that New Edition would have a major return to the spotlight once their biopic aired. The group partnered with BET, who went all out for The New Edition Story. Here, the world saw “Empire” star, Bryshere “Yazz” Gray emerge as a star outside of the show.
Yazz played Michael Bivins down to the T, as did Woody McClain, who played Bobby Brown. Last month, McClain talked to Hip-HopVibe.com about playing such a role. Weeks after the biopic aired, there is rising interest in New Edition, still.
Forever the businessmen, New Edition is getting ready to get back on the road. They capitalized on the film’s success and Brooke Payne, played by Wood Harris in the movie, made the announcement that New Edition is going back on the road. This time, they are taking the biopic cast with them, including Yazz, McClain, and the other stars.
