“The New Edition Story” averaged 5.4 million viewers a night on BET #TheNewEditionStory #NewEditionBET

Last week, BET had a ratings winner in The New Edition Story, the miniseries biopic of New Edition. The movie had an all-star cast and brought record ratings to BET. Along with the move, the cast members were live tweeting, sharing behind the scenes details of each scene.

Bryshere “Yazz” Gray headlined the film, portraying Michael Bivins. A lot of big names, including Luke James as Johnny Gill, and Lala Anthony and Ronnie DeVoe’s mother were also included. Then, Tank and Duane Martin played heads of the label New Edition was signed to.

The New Edition Story marks a new transition in BET history, where fans are expecting scripted content at all-times. Fans have flooded the timelines of BET asking them to do more biopics. But, the one they just wrapped averaged 5.4 million viewers a night in its three night run.
