Tonight’s part of The New Edition Story saw the whole end of the original Bobby Brown era. With Bobby (Woody McClain) acting increasingly out of control, the group had to make a move. Feeling the pressure, Mike (Bryshere “Yazz” Gray) took on the business role.

His first business decision was getting rid of Bobby and replacing him with Johnny Gill (Luke James). The vote was devastating, but Bobby took the ouster and used it to launch his solo career. Longtime fans remember his Don’t Be Cruel album.

After the second airing of part two of The New Edition Story, fans came away from it with a new appreciation of New Edition. Because of them kicking Bobby Brown out of the group, he gave Don’t Be Cruel to the world. They have Bobby’s classic album trending in celebration of this.
