#MyPresidentIsBlack: BET’s “Through The Fire” documentary on Barack Obama has Twitter elated and emotional #ThankYouObama

Eight years ago, Barack Obama did it his way and won. Technology has been advancing for decades, but social media was just hitting its stride when Barack Obama was campaigning. There are a lot of things that factored into him being elected, but hip hop was a big part.

Hip hop, since its inception, along with urban entertainment, has always been counted out. However, it counted the most when Young Jeezy made “My President (Is Black)” months before Election Day. In the end, Jeezy was right.

Jeezy, along with Common, Jay Z, Beyonce, Diddy, LeBron James, Mary J. Blige, and many others campaigned for Barack Obama. In the end, Obama won by a large margin, setting the tone for a historic presidency. BET is celebrating this legacy, the good, the bad, and everything, and Twitter is loving all of it, #ThankYouObama.
