Current NBA basketball has everybody playing like the Phoenix Suns during the Steve Nash era. It’s funny how that style pretty much made it where those Suns could never win a title. Then, on the flipside, that style propelled the Warriors and Steph Curry to all-time greatness.
If those boys had to play in Gary Payton’s era, there would be a major difference in how the game would be played. It’s hard to imagine any of those guys getting away with this style of play in Payton’s era. But, then again, it’s hard to imagine the Seattle SuperSonics active in this era.
Gary Payton recently visited NBA TV, where he met Kevin Garnett at his new show, before doing an interview. He would discuss James Harden and Russell Westbrook, two of the hottest players in the league. The discussion was about their high level of play and the point guard dominance of the NBA.
