Even when it’s not about Nicki Minaj, it’s always all about her. The year of 2016 went by without much from Nicki, outside of the typical rumors she’s always dealt with. There was a brief time, during the late fall, when people thought Pick My Fruit Out was her actual album.
Those who caught it got a good laugh, but Nicki Minaj decided she would let 2016 go without putting new music out. But, she was among the many who fell for Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles.” Loving it so much, she made her own track, “Black Barbies,” finding much success.
BET quickly teamed up with Nicki Minaj to do something to close the year out. Longtime hip hop fans are used to ending the year on the channel, but they used to do it with the ultimate 100 top videos of the year countdown. This year is different, as it ends with Nicki Minaj’s Pinkprint on BET movie special.
