In 2014, all of the Los Angeles artists that were gaining momentum on the mixtape success of 2013. Among the artists were bubbling under that emerged were Ty Dolla $ign and Tinashe. Early 2014 saw Ty take over and Tinashe dominated the summer.
Since summer 2014, however, Tinashe has endured setbacks with her album, which is now out. Even with a new album out, the fanfare from 2014 is not the same. However, Ty Dolla $ign has not missed a beat, crossing over more into pop.
Tinashe hosted the E! red carpet for the 2016 American Music Awards and Ty Dolla $ign is among the people she interviewed. During their interview, Tinashe and Ty Dolla $ign joked about collaborating in the future. But, fans in the Instagram comments got disrespectful, calling her “thirsty,” and questioning if they smashed.
