In 2007, Greg Oden was the biggest name in college basketball, as he returned from injury early. Dealing with a hand injury, Greg Oden played his freshman college season by using his left hand, his off hand, as his primary hand. This gave Greg Oden a lot of momentum.

The Portland Trail Blazers wasted no time drafting Greg Oden with the top pick in the NBA draft. Ironically, the Seattle SuperSonics had to “settle” with Kevin Durant as the second overall pick. At the time, the league was dealing with Shaq coming to the close of his career.

Without another dominant big man, it looked as if the game would become run and gun. Injuries stopped Greg Oden from becoming what he could have been and the game did become run and gun. Discussing this in a new ESPN interview, Greg Oden said he’ll be remembered as the “biggest bust in NBA history,” which sparked debate on Twitter and attention to Kwame Brown.
