Quite a bit has changed in the music industry, especially where the execs are concerned. Major labels no longer have guys like Lyor Cohen that artists can speak to. This was highlighted, back in 2011, when the presidency of Def Jam was vacant and Irv Gotti campaigned for it.
Lyor Cohen and Kevin Liles formed quite the duo at Def Jam for a long time, before they left and joined Atlantic Records. Now, they are the heads of 300 Ent., home of Fetty Wap and Kevin Gates. Before this, they oversaw the likes of Jay Z and Ludacris gaining fame.
N.O.R.E. worked under Lyor Cohen and Kevin Liles, when he joined Def Jam in 2002. During Revolt week in Miami, N.O.R.E. got Lyor Cohen and Kevin Liles to sit down for the unique interview style. The interview saw them discuss Jay Z, Ja Rule, DMX, stories of Def Jam history, and much more.
