Back in 2010, Big K.R.I.T. saw his mixtape success swell and it garnered a lot of attention. Soon, Sha Money XL saw Big K.R.I.T. and he vowed to sign him to Def Jam. In 2014, Sha Money XL told Hip Hop Vibe all about how the situation came together.

Big K.R.I.T. would drop two albums on Def Jam and he saw moderate success. However, many fans complained of album delays. In the place of his album delays, Big K.R.I.T. continued releasing mixtapes and he would soon leave Def Jam.

This morning, Big K.R.I.T. made his media rounds in NYC, stopping by “The Breakfast Club.” He told DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne Tha God about his departure from Def Jam. K.R.I.T. also discussed his performance at the DJ Khaled-hosted BET Hip Hop Awards.
