The past few years have seen many black shows make their way to television. FOX’s “Empire,” starring Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson is the posterchild of this. But, there is also Starz’ “Power,” starring Omari Hardwick and Naturi Naughton.

Netflix is also getting in on the action with “The Get Down” and, like the other shows, is hip hop influenced. Their soundtrack was overseen by none other than Nas. The show made its premiere last week to positive reviews.

Sway recently invited “The Get Down” cast to Shade 45 where they spoke to him for “Sway In The Morning.” Their interview centered around the influence the show is having. The cast and the creator both spoke on the show, which is already beginning to make a big impact.
