#Roots miniseries finished run with 4.2 million viewers, despite battling #NBAFinals for ratings

RootsThe beginning of summer, this year, has been packed with a whole lot of television for the small number of consumers. Every network had a plan to get the non-vacation Memorial Day viewers. Popular urban TV network, TV One, got things started with the “Empire” marathon.

Meanwhile, the A&E Networks went for the jugular, remaking Roots and getting T.I. as one of the cast members. Then, of course, the NBA playoffs were going on. When Roots debuted, they had to contend with the Game 7 matchup between the Warriors and Thunder.

This past week, Roots wrapped its four night run, which coincided with the Warriors and the Cavaliers playing in the Finals. However, Roots finished with 4.2 million viewers on the finale. They faced off against Stephen Curry, Terrence Howard, T.I., LeBron James, and Taraji P. Henson, just naming headliners, so they did very well.
