Chris Rock takes Twitter with his #Oscars monologue, hilariously addressing #OscarsSoWhite controversy

ChrisrockoscarsigBecause of the #OscarsSoWhite controversy leading up to the 88th Annual Academy Awards, many looked forward to Chris Rock’s monologue. One of his go-to jokes is race, a staple of his performances. This was one time when his shtick was spot-on.

Many in the academy came under fire, as there were very few black nominees in 2016. Prior to this, however, there were some who embraced the Image Awards and awards like this. Tonight, Chris Rock delivered, as expected.

Chris Rock opened his monologue with the expected jokes about the lack of diversity in the nominations. He went on to joke about how this year is no different than any other year. For his commentary, which included years past of blacks fighting true racial injustices, he received plenty of high marks on Twitter.
