Trinidad James wins at the #GRAMMYs for #UptownFunk

Trinidad James GrammysBy Matthew Bridge

Three years ago, Trinidad James was on top of the world. Months after releasing “All Gold Everything,” Trinidad James had the biggest single out. Many of hip hop’s biggest names jumped on the remix and Def Jam signed him to a lucrative deal.

Trinidad James faced tons of pressure to follow up his record. Truth be told, Trinidad James did have a successful follow up single, “Females Welcome,” which did well in the spring of 2013. Unfortunately, the single did not come close to its predecessor.

Last year, Trinidad James’ line on “All Gold Everything,” ‘don’t believe me just watch, n*gga, n*gga, n*gga, n*gga, n*gga” was borrowed by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars for “Uptown Funk.” They even made the beat of the song play out James’ N-word usage. The song dominated 2014-2015 and won a Grammy, presented by Beyonce and her privates, and Trinidad James won too.
