Earlier this year, Jennifer Lawrence spoke out for equality in a major way. Making a big statement, Lawrence sounded off on how women are not paid as much as men in Hollywood. When it comes to Hollywood, and media in general, there are plenty of hurdles.
This is especially true when it comes to urban entertainment. All of the legends in the black entertainment industry have faced it in one way or another. When Jennifer Lawrence made her comments, many people pointed this out.
Chris Rock touched on this when he talked to The New Yorker. During their interview, Chris Rock said that black people have gone through struggles like that for years. His argument was that black entertainers get paid less than white entertainers, whether they be male or female.
