The reason Jay Z is so revered as an artist, to this day, is because of his consistency in the 1990s and 2000s. When Jay Z was primarily an artist, he delivered an album every year. Each of those albums can be argued as a classic, even the compilation album.
However, Jay Z retired and soon took over Def Jam as the head of the label. This transition saw Jay Z take a permanent step back from music, despite making a comeback album. Now, no one expects a Jay Z album a year, as he drops in at random times.
Over the weekend, Jay Electronica made some tweets that got the attention of the fans. As Jay Z is days removed from his biggest music story of the week, Jay Electronica hinted at him having something more in the works. His tweet suggested Jay Z may have a project of his own coming for the 2016 period.
