During Jay Z’s presidency at Def Jam, under L.A. Reid, he signed a plethora of artists. Among the artists Jay Z signed was Rick Ross, a popular Miami rapper who was signed to Slip-N-Slide Records. In the ensuing years, Rick Ross made major hits for the label.
Ultimately, when it came time for Rick Ross to do a real label deal for his label, Maybach Music, he did the deal with Atlantic Records. This partnership is four years old and still going strong. From the moment that deal was signed, Ross seemed less interested in Def Jam.
With the changes going on at Def Jam, a lot of artists have left the label and Rick Ross seems to be no different. A businessman always looking for the best deal, Rick Ross has reunited with L.A. Reid. Posting a photo of them on Instagram, Rick Ross hinted to signing with Epic Records in the caption, days after posting a photo of Future.
