Last week, Andre Harrell talked to “The Breakfast Club” about the history of Uptown Records. Among the artists who was signed to the initial roster was Al B. Sure!, an R&B legend. Early in his career, he was one of the artists working with Andre Harrell.

Al B. Sure! delivered his debut album, In Effect Mode, during the spring of 1988. Already, he had a single going well for himself, “Nite and Day,” the lead single off the album. When this song was climbing the charts, before peaking at number seven on Billboard Hot 100.

A sex symbol in the late 1980s, Al B. Sure! went triple platinum with his debut album. This early part of his career is being revisited tonight on a new episode of TV One’s “Unsung,” which airs at 8 pm EST. Ahead of this, Hip Hop Vibe decided to pick “Nite and Day” as the Wednesday Throwback.
