Over the past couple of years, Jay Z and Beyonce have gone from being legends to icons, to immortal to hear some people tell it. This is a long way from where they began, however. The hip hop audience knows the story, as Jay Z was the rapper and Beyonce was one third of Destiny’s Child.

Both saw bigger for themselves than what the masses did and when they got together, they began realizing this dream. When Jay Z was focused on rapping, he dropped an album every year. Following his success in 2001, he returned in 2002 with The Blueprint 2: The Gift and The Curse.

The opening single off the album was “’03 Bonnie & Clyde,” which introduced his relationship with Beyonce to the world. Without fully confirming their romance, Jay Z and Beyonce made a classic track. Hard to believe it’s been thirteen years since the single came out, but it is this week’s Wednesday Throwback.
