Those who weren’t following Fetty Wap from the beginning are wondering where he came from. Honestly, he went from being a buzzing rapper on the internet to co-signed by Jay Z, Beyonce, Kanye West, and Rihanna overnight. The grind took much longer than that, however.

Early last year, Fetty Wap began pushing his music and it ended up on the mixtape, This Week’s Bangers, from DJ Louie Styles. From there, “Trap Queen” was recorded and the two teamed up. They talked about this during their interview with Hip Hop Vibe last fall.

Fetty Wap recently made major waves when he revealed his new haircut, now rocking the dreads. When people began speculating he paid $4,000 to get his hair done this way, all of the jokes began. The internet is a small place and Fetty Wap saw what people were saying about him, hitting back at those people with an Instagram post that puts it all in perspective.
