Mannie Fresh talks working with Lil Wayne on “Tha Carter V,” compares it to original album, with Montreality

Simply because of the star power, Cash Money Records continued winning and became the force they were in the rap game. But, hardcore fans still say the label fell apart when Mannie Fresh left. His decision to leave is one many question, but understand at the same time.

The timing could not have been worse for Lil Wayne, at the time. He was on the verge of doing what he did to the game, releasing Tha Carter in 2004. Just as he made himself the “best rapper alive,” Lil Wayne found himself without his producer/DJ while “Go DJ” was his biggest hit.

Mannie Fresh and Lil Wayne have reunited, as Wayne is forcing his way off the Cash Money Records roster. The two are working together on Tha Carter V, the final Lil Wayne album and Mannie Fresh says things have come full circle. When he talked to Montreality, Mannie Fresh said Lil Wayne’s new album sounds like the 2004 effort, just in a modern sense.
