Marvin Gaye’s family is now legally targeting T.I. and Universal Music Group

When “Blurred Lines” was first released, many longtime music fans said the song reminded them of Marvin Gaye’s “Got To Give It Up.” But, the record was not a sample of the Marvin Gaye classic. This didn’t stop his family, however, from going after Robin Thicke and Pharrell.

One name left out of the “Blurred Lines” lawsuit was T.I. While he is featured on the song, all T.I. did was add a sixteen bar rap at the end of the song. However, Marvin Gaye’s family managed to win the suit and they have since looked at Pharrell’s “Happy” and T.I.’s verse.

Undoubtedly, T.I. also made plenty of money off “Blurred Lines” and now the family of Marvin Gaye has decided to make a bigger move. Profit from Robin Thicke and Pharrell is not enough, they are now going after Interscope Records and their parent label, Universal Music Group. Robin Thicke plans to appeal the case and it is possible T.I. would too.
