In short, Taraji P. Henson is killing it right now on FOX’s “Empire,” playing the role of Cookie Lyon. She is the ex-wife of Terrence Howard’s character, Lucious Lyon. This makes her the father to the three sons, all vying for the role of head of the family.

“Empire” is easily the biggest new show in recent years, but this has not come without drama. There were rumors of Diddy banning Quincy, his son, from the show and 50 Cent calling them out. Then, there are reports of Diddy suing “Empire’s” creators for stealing his life.

Mo’Nique has also done a lot of talking about “Empire” and the head writer, Lee Daniels. Previously working together on Precious, Mo’Nique said she was in the running to be Cookie before being blackballed. After doing an interview with “Inside Edition” about this, Danny Strong, “Empire’s” creator, spoke out and said Taraji P. Henson always was Cookie Lyon.
