Eight years ago, VH1 was in the midst of their Celebreality programming block. Via Flavor Flav, they had created tons of new stars, none bigger than Tiffany “New York” Pollard. In turn, she gave life to the Givens brothers, Real and Chance.
While fans arguably took to Chance more than Real, they eldest Givens brother built a solid fan base. After coming up short in “I Love New York,” the two competed on “I Love Money.” This was when VH1 gave them the greenlight for “Real Chance of Love,” after Real lost out at Hoopz’ love.
Since 2009, Real, real name Ahmad Givens, and Chance, real name Kamal Givens, have stayed out of the spotlight. But, Real has received media attention, periodically since 2013, due to his battle with terminal colon cancer. Fighting a good fight and defeating the odds, Real lost the Earthly fight to this battle this morning, which Chance revealed on his Instagram.
