For years, DJ Self has been one of the hottest DJs in the game, doing radio on Power 105.1 and Shade 45. In addition to the radio shows, DJ Self has also released plenty of singles, notably “Gimme 20 Dollars.” Last summer, J. Cole gave DJ Self’s single a shout out on his hit single, “Power Trip,” featuring Miguel.
DJ Self talked to Hip Hop Vibe at the 2014 Global Spin Awards and he talked about some of his upcoming work. As one of the hardest-working DJs in the game, DJ Self has a reputation of doing good work. His popularity and his background speaks for itself, but he made a misstep this evening.
Recently, DJ Self was posting on Instagram and he took a photo of himself holding a phone with a picture. The person in the picture looks like Lamont Bentley, Hakeem from “Moesha,” who died back in 2005. His caption “I found Hakeem from Moesha” led to some of his followers giving him flack.
