Ever since the original days of hip hop, ladies have played just as big of a role as men have, but there were more male rappers. Definitely, Lil’ Kim redefined the female rapper, as she was not only equally nice as most of the men, she also played dirty. She played dirty by using her sex appeal and the men loved every minute of it.
Lil’ Kim laid the blueprint that Nicki Minaj is currently using and she has often admitted to this, despite the beef. Many of the records Nicki Minaj is breaking, as a female rapper, were originally set by Lil’ Kim. Still one of the most-impactful rappers in the game, Lil’ Kim had the game waiting for five years on a new album.
Tonight, the 2014 Soul Train Music Awards are airing on BET and Lil’ Kim is making her return there. She recently released her Hard Core mixtape and she is going to perform a few of the songs off the mixtape. Nine years after her last album release, Lil’ Kim has shut down Twitter, while fans debate her and wait for her to take the stage.
