A lot of credit goes to the rappers who have come up on the mixtape scene and got their careers revived through it. But, it’s also important to know about the DJs who helped make this thing happen for many rappers. One of the main ones is Bigga Rankin, who is dominating the mixtape game from Florida.
Bigga Rankin has helped many artists gain their footing in the game, such as Plies. He is working with many others, including YT Triz, who is a newcomer at Poe Boy Music Group, best-known as the home of Flo Rida. During the 2014 BET Hip Hop Awards weekend, Bigga Rankin was among the celebrities in Atlanta.
DJ Charlie Hustle corresponds for Hip Hop Vibe in Atlanta and he ran into Bigga Rankin, who gave us an exclusive interview. Briefly running down the impact he’s had in the game, Bigga Rankin discussed some of his newer artists, YT Triz, and his partner. He then spoke on winning the lifetime achievement award at the BET Hip Hop Awards.
