Atlanta’s always held a special place in the heart of hip hop lovers. But, most have assumed the history of Atlanta hip hop would always remain verbal and told through interviews. The city of Atlanta and their hip hop scene finally got their well-deserved documentary last month with “ATL: The Untold Story of Atlanta’s Rise in the Rap Game.”
DJ Toomp received a major spotlight in this documentary, because he’s contributed more to the overall hip hop scene than most realize. Although he is known for his work with more current artists, such as T.I. and others, he has made moves with many different generations of Atlanta hip hop. His career has seen a lot of people come and go.
Recently, DJ Charlie Hustle caught up with DJ Toomp while he was making moves during the 2014 BET Hip Hop Awards weekend. Very briefly, DJ Toomp took time out to speak with an old friend. He gave his opinion on VH1 doing the Atlanta hip hop documentary, which he favored, and some of his current projects.
