Shawty Lo, president of G-Unit South, hits the studio with Rick Ross [VIDEO]

One of the “strong pushes” 50 Cent made with his music came in 2011, when he decided to expand G-Unit. During this time, 50 Cent signed Kidd Kidd, Shawty Lo, and DJ Pauly D to G-Unit Records. Even Lil’ Kim started a campaign to join the label, although 50 Cent denied signing her.

50 Cent went well beyond signing Shawty Lo, however. Instead, 50 Cent picked up the entire D4L Records roster and signed Shawty Lo to a joint venture deal, worth $10 million. Under the terms of this deal, Shawty Lo would run G-Unit South, originally created and run by Young Buck.

Of course, quite a bit has changed since 2011, but Shawty Lo is still assumed to be running D4L/G-Unit South. Without a doubt, Rick Ross is still considered to be one of the main rivals G-Unit has. But, Shawty Lo is currently in the studio with Rick Ross, posting the video of them recording on Instagram.
