Urban award shows have become a staple for artists to target their rivals in front of big audiences. In recent years, Nicki Minaj has been one of the only major female artists in the game. As a result, Nicki Minaj wins Best Female Artist every year at the BET Awards, but this year was different.
Several other ladies in the game have had hits and released albums, with Iggy Azalea being the most-notable. Ironically, old tweets of Iggy Azalea making disrespectful comments surfaced and Nicki Minaj fired back. Despite Iggy Azalea protesting these old tweets, Nicki Minaj did not relent.
Nicki Minaj and Iggy Azalea have traded subliminal shots for some time and it all came to a head last night. Once again, Nicki Minaj won Best Female Artist and she was more boastful this year, as opposed to her “I’m sorry” from last year. She took shots at Iggy Azalea and Twitter reacted to it.
