A cultural icon was lost late last night in the form of Bobby Womack, who has crafted countless classic hits. Two years ago, Bobby Womack was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. His death comes two weeks after her performed and rocked the house down in Memphis at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.

Bobby Womack overcame a lot in his seventy years here on Earth. Two years ago, he celebrated twenty years of being drug-free. Prior to this, Bobby Womack suffered an addiction to cocaine, but he still managed to put out classics like “Sweet Caroline,” “California Dreamin,” and the arguably-best known “If You Think You’re Lonely Now.”

Unfortunately, Bobby Womack will never be here again in the physical form. With the summer here, many hope to think about life and the future and celebrating the legends that are here. But, death is the natural final process of life and Bobby Womack is no longer here.

Rest in peace, Robert Dwayne “Bobby” Womack. March 4, 1944 – June 27, 2014.
