It’s no secret that Charlotte is the location at the present moment and North Carolina deserves a lot of props for what they are doing for hip hop. But, DJ YRS Jerzy is indeed from New Jersey, make no mistake about that. With that in mind, this week, we decided to represent for Jersey on the Wednesday Throwback.
Most know Redman best for his collaborations with Method Man, but before this, he was doing his own thing. Back in 1992, Redman released Whut? Thee Album, his debut album that is held in high regard with critics. The album was put out by Def Jam during a time when the label was transitioning.
“Blow Your Mind” was the lead single off the album and it wasted no time topping the Rap Charts on Billboard. The success of “Blow Your Mind” led to the Whut? album certifying gold. This is a record that definitely deserves additional attention, twenty two years after it was released and today it gets just that.
