YG speaks on people calling his music “ratchet” with VIBE [VIDEO]

There is something about YG that makes him one of the most-interesting new stars in the game. Last summer, YG dropped that “My Hitta” record and the song has lived close to three lives in terms of mainstream attention. The success of “My Hitta” could lead some to feel his music is “ratchet.”

Clearly, YG is a street rapper and he makes it clear on a lot of his music. The verse that YG left on Yo Gotti’s “Act Right” shows the life he lived, but this isn’t all that he is when it comes to music. As he has made his media rounds, YG has made it clear he has a lot of influences.

Before the My Krazy Life album dropped, YG did an interview with VIBE and the content of his music was discussed. “Ratchet” music came up and YG let it be known that he takes offense to his music falling under this category. Instead, YG insists that his music is classic instead of the “ratchet” label.
