During his street album days, Kendrick Lamar released a new album every year and it built his buzz. Even though good kid, m.A.A.d. city was billed as Kendrick Lamar’s debut album, it followed a street album and four album-quality mixtapes. Most of these releases came one calendar year after the previous effort.
Kendrick Lamar made it clear his major label career with Interscope Records would be much different, however. With his buzz at an all-time high, Kendrick Lamar said he was in no rush to put another album out. Instead, Kendrick Lamar said he would give his album time to age before going back in.
Apparently, Kendrick Lamar has given good kid, m.A.A.d. city enough time to marinate with the listeners. Earlier today, Top Dawg Entertainment came forward to reveal they had some new music in the works. Kendrick Lamar’s second major label album is on the way and expected to come in September, meanwhile they also think the Black Hippy album may be coming this year.
