Tito Lopez 2By K.B. Tindal
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

It’s a New Year and Hip Hop Vibe is picking up right where it left off at the end of last year. This year, more exclusives are coming and this one is the first of what should be many. Mississippi is a longtime hip hop hotbed and Tito Lopez is the latest rapper carrying the torch in the Deep South.

Tito Lopez is currently signed to Capitol Records and he is having his way on the street scene. Last year, Tito Lopez dropped his Y.O.U. free album that did exceptionally well with his supporters. His release was one of many in 2013, as there were countless big names who made unexpected comebacks.

Before the year ended, Tito Lopez took out a little time to talk to Hip Hop Vibe for the second time. In our discussion, Tito Lopez talked about the music he dropped in 2013. He continued the interview with speaking on both Eminem and his The Marshall Mathers LP 2 and Jay-Z’s release of Magna Carta Holy Grail and Beyonce’s new album.

Read the entire interview below:

You started off a couple years back with a huge single Mama Proud and it seemed like things were going full blast. Now it seems like things have slowed down some. Can you elaborate on that for us? Well, first off, my single isn’t what I would call “huge.” A major label will push a lot of things and I guess I was chosen as one of those things. Notice I said “things.”

As far as it slowing down, I’m from Gulfport, Mississippi. I’m used to things being slower, as far as pace, so I’m comfortable. Also, what I’ve accomplished is actually history, even though it may not seem that way to most, so I’m just taking my time to enjoy my life as much as I can.

What’s your current label situation like? I’m signed to Capitol Records, actually.

Is there going to be a full length album anytime soon? If so can you tell us more about it and who will possibly be featured on it? Well, I actually just released a full length album called Y.O.U. last summer with features from Trae Tha Truth, Jon Connor, and more cats I fuck with in this industry. Its labeled a MIXTAPE because it’s FREE, but it’s an album and I’m working on the all-original follow up now. As far as a debut on a major label, it’s coming when it comes. But, whoever is a true fan follows my music and I’ve given plenty of my best work all year.

The last time we spoke you said Eminem was your favorite rapper. What did you think about his single “Rap God” and The Marshall Mathers LP 2 album? Em is dope. Period.

Are you still currently cool with the Dungeon Family and their affiliates and will there be any collaborative work with them in the future? I’m absolutely cool with ALL the Dungeon Family and I am an affiliate myself. Rico Wade actually just sent me some new beats, I talk to Sleepy Brown all the time, and I got a verse from Killer Mike last time I was in Atlanta, so we stay working. I got more records done with them.

You also stated that you have got to be legendary and in the same lane as Em and Jay so what was your take on Jay changing the game with the way he released Magna Carta Holy Grail and Beyonce` with her unexpected self -titled release of her visual LP on Friday the 13th? I think they’re both bosses and have earned the right to do whatever they want however they want. Salute.

Do you have any last words for the fans? How can the fans reach out to you via social networks? I don’t like the word FANS but to my true supporters, I say THANK YOU. Hit me on Twitter @realtitolopez , Instagram @blackdudespanishname, Facebook @titolopezoffical. I’m really on everything. 2014 we comin back hard.
