T.I. talks Columbia Records deal, working with Lil Wayne, and Grand Hustle Records with DJ Scream [AUDIO]

T.I. 2Early this year, T.I. was still riding the wave of Trouble Man: Heavy Is The Head and it looked like a new start. However, T.I. had a shock for everyone who was keeping up with his movement, he was looking for a new label. Since 2003, T.I. had been in a joint venture with Atlantic Records.

Because of the history T.I. shared with Atlantic Records, it looked like he would never leave them. Before his run-ins with the law, T.I. was once rumored to take over the entire label as an executive. But, legal situations kept T.I. tied up for two years and he was looking for something new.

T.I. got this “something new” when he signed with Columbia Records, as he promised he would have a deal before the year ended. Hip Hop Vibe talked to Shawn Holiday, the new Colubmia Records executive overseeing his project. Previously, Young Dro explained to Hip Hop Vibe the label situation Grand Hustle was in.

But, T.I. called into DJ Scream’s Hoodrich Radio and he explained the Columbia Records deal, making it clear he was going there, but his Grand Hustle label is still independent. In the interview, T.I. also talked about his longtime working relationship with Lil Wayne.
