With New York City: The Album, Troy Ave definitely has made himself a strong candidate for New York’s next hip hop leader. The media in New York certainly appears supportive of Troy Ave’s movement, as he has come a long way. Troy Ave’s rise has definitely come at the right time.

Kendrick Lamar shook the game up this past summer when he said he, himself, was the king of New York. Soon, Kendrick Lamar saw himself being dissed left and right by Papoose, a former supporter. Regardless, Troy Ave has consistently put out music in the time since then.

Troy Ave is making his rounds with the media since he dropped New York City and this meant a stop by Hot 97. Although not an official album, Troy Ave dropped something for the streets and Peter Rosenberg and DJ Cipha Sounds loved it. Their interview spoke about the new album.
