International traveling is something most rappers always allude to in their lyrics, especially in the case of Jay-Z. Few rappers were mentioning G4 jets in 1998, but Jay-Z was one of the originators, no pun intended. When 2011 came around and Jay-Z was still in the game, he decided to change things up.
The usual cities and locations were name-dropped and used for music videos, so Jay-Z and Kanye West decided they would do “Paris.” In 2011, they released Watch the Throne, which was one of the most-anticipated albums of the year. A standout track, “Niggas in Paris” eventually became the breakout single from the project.
Kanye West lived in Paris throughout most of both 2012 and 2013 before returning at the end of the summer to live with Kim Kardashian in Los Angeles. Jay-Z is also very familiar with the city, as he recorded there too. He recently decided he would treat his wife to a dinner date in the French city.
