When he first came into the game, Wale was considered one of those super-lyrical rappers and he got a lot of praise for it. But, his label didn’t really understand his style or how to promote him. Because of that, Wale became another dope rapper stuck on a label with no chance of blowing up, until he got out of his contract.
Jay-Z and Roc Nation back Wale and supported him during his free agency. Wale began spending a lot of time in Miami, home of Rick Ross, a big Jay-Z affiliate. Rick Ross wasted no time signing Wale to Maybach Music and he was one of hip hop’s most-discussed names within a year.
Wale has been with Maybach Music for two years and he has made tons of anthems for the ladies. Early this year, Wale got with a new name in Tiara Thomas and he kept this trend alive for “Bad.” Tonight, Wale got on Twitter and revealed “Bad” is his first-ever platinum single.
