Known for making his bold proclamations, there was a time when Rick Ross was written off as a “big talker.” When he said he might sign Wale to Maybach Music in 2010, few people believed it would actually happen. Then, when Rick Ross signed Wale, he also signed Meek Mill to the label.
Those signings paired with the hits they have made over the past two years have led to people putting nothing past Rick Ross. Last year, Rick Ross showed how much he could do when he signed Omarion to Maybach Music. Mase was also a name tossed around as someone Rick Ross would sign.
It’s been two years of Rick Ross doing what he does and people know the signs. When an artist begins showing up in all the Maybach Music photos and hanging out with the associated artist, something is up. Fabolous is a member of DJ Clue’s Desert Storm label, his own Street Family Records, and Def Jam.
The original Maybach Music label is also a subsidiary of Def Jam and there may be a chance Rick Ross may add Fabolous to that roster, seeing how he is already an associate. Fabolous has shown an especially close relationship with Meek Mill, popping up in several photos with him. Wale, on the other hand, has filled Fabolous’ role as the ladies man of hip hop with his anthems that are made just for the ladies.
Fabolous hasn’t dropped an album in four years and it’s looking like Loso’s Way 2 won’t at least come until 2014, so is there a chance that Def Jam may push Fabolous in the direction of MMG?
